What "Organic Cotton" Actually Means, and Why We Chose It

Organic cotton gets used a lot in baby product marketing, so it is worth explaining what it actually means before we ask you to care about it.

Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, and without genetically modified seeds. That changes what ends up in the fiber, and it changes what touches your baby's skin. Standard cotton farming is one of the more chemically intensive forms of agriculture in the world. Organic farming avoids that from the start, rather than trying to wash it out later.

For the HuggiBaby Gentle Lounger, we use organic cotton for the cover your baby actually rests against. It is soft from the first wash, it breathes, and it holds up to repeated washing, which matters because it will get washed often.

We know "organic" can start to feel like a marketing word rather than a real one. So we tested the materials, not just the cotton, and every material in the lounger is tested for toxins before it reaches you. Organic cotton is one part of that. Testing every material is the rest of it.

If you want to see the fabric up close before you buy, we are always happy to send more detail. Just write to us.
